I was informed today by one of Aeryn’s friends in Vienna that one of the local newspapers, “Kurier”, had an article about Aeryn’s disappearance. It also is on their web site at;
http://kurier.at/nachrichten/1987974.php
From the information I have received from several sources, they have started a “Cold Case Team” in Austria. From the news article “The Austrian Federal Police has established a special unit (SoKo) ‘Sonderkommission’ to investigate almost 800 cases of missing persons from the last decades, including the case of American citizen Aeryn Gillern.”
According to the article Aeryn is Priority Case #2
As of yet I have not been contacted by anyone from the Cold Case Team, but can’t imagine them doing a legitimate investigation without contacting me.
I also have not been informed by the Police that the case is closed. The last time I spoke to the Police was by phone, on October 30, 2009. At that time Lt. Kovar assured me that the case was not closed.
I have received a rough translation of the article, and have some received information about the Cold Case Team from Aeryn’s friends in Vienna, as well as some very helpful information from some people that read the article and have gone out of their way to provide links and phone numbers. There is a lot to say about the kindness of strangers.
As I don’t know long the newspaper will keep the link up I am copying the article in German and pasting it below. Babelfish translator will give you a rough idea of what is said.
Aeryn Gillern: Vermisst seit 29. Oktober 2007 in Wien Drucken
